NEXT WORKSHOP DATE:
Discover satisfaction - Eat What you really want
Monday April 27th
Date: We meet the last Monday of the month (every month)
Time: 7 p.m. - 8 p.m. CST
Where: You will be provided a link each month to use to log into our private interactive online meeting room.
HOW TO GET STARTED!
STEP #1: Once you sign up you will be sent a link to complete our online intuitive eating assessment questionnaire. This is so we know a little bit about where you are at in your intuitive eating journey. This will help Susan prioritize topics that matter to you!
STEP #2: Attend the live online workshop each month. You will be able to interact with Susan (Certified Intuitive Eating counsellor) in the virtual chat room, but you will not have to come on camera. Each month we will be discussing a topic based on the content of the book “Intuitive Eating: A Revolutionary Program that Works” by Evelyn Tribole, M.S., RD and Elyse Resch, M.S., RD. and will review the 10 principles of intuitive eating. We will also be incorporating mindfulness skills for improving mindful and attuned eating. If you are new to intuitive eating, it would be beneficial for you to purchase the book (but not mandatory).
STEP #3: After each monthly meeting you will be given a small intuitive eating reflection activity to work on in between meetings. When we meet back the following month, we will take time prior to the new topic discussion to review challenges and successes with the various reflection activities. We will also take some time to discuss any questions that members have.
*Participation in the activities is optional. You can work alongside the group on your own privately by just listening in, or you can join into the conversation. There is no pressure to actively participate. All workshops will be recorded and you can go through the material at your own time and pace.

WHAT IS INTUITIVE EATING?
Intuitive eating is a personal process and journey of learning to honour your health by listening and responding to the internal messages of the body in order to meet your physical and psychological needs. The goal of intuitive eating is to be able to eat the foods you like, and recognize when to stop when you are satisfied. Intuitive Eating is not a diet or food plan to follow. Intuitive eating targets the root of problematic eating behaviours and provides strategies to resolve these issues and become confident in your food choices and relationship with food.
WILL THIS PROGRAM HELP ME LOSE WEIGHT?
Intuitive eating is not a weight-loss diet. Not only do diets not work – dieting is a well-established predictor of weight gain, as has been shown repeatedly in research. Dieting is where you likely developed your unhealthy relationship with food. The reality is that the root of the problem is the “diet mentality + diet culture.” The diet mentality is created by the act of dieting itself, and is basically a self-destructive pattern of thinking and behaving. Intentional weight loss through dieting is associated with harmful outcomes like disordered eating, weight cycling, and upholds the systems that value smaller bodies over larger bodies. Intuitive eating is different. It helps you break free from the cycle of dieting and learn to eat food normally – finding balance and making peace with food.
HOW MUCH TIME DO I NEED TO SET ASIDE EACH WEEK TO WORK ON INTUITIVE EATING?
If you have dieted before, you will find that learning to implement the principles of intuitive eating takes less time than when you were endlessly weighing food, recording and counting calories. You will gain time back because you won’t be obsessing about food all the time.
You will be given a small reflection activity to work on after each workshop. It is up to you how much time you take to practice and implement the activities. Some weeks it may seem like an easy task to do, and some weeks it might be harder.
Intuitive eating is a new skill that you will have to learn to develop and work at practicing it. Overall, you will be spending less time working on intuitive eating than when you were following rigid diet plans and rules.
